About the girl
behind the screen.
Has a penchant for following the rules, but solemnly swears she is up to no good.
Rica is the name.
Not your average, everyday, sixteen-year-old sane psycho from the Philippines.
What rhymes with Rica?
The blogger is Asian, has frizzy hair, outspoken, mouthy, a writer and a dreamer, awkward, nerdy, and very much alive. Some say she is opinionated, shy, mysterious, talkative, fun, and a certified dork. She is, admittedly, weird, kooky, a little nuts, but totally lovable. She babbles a lot when she's nervous, when it’s really quiet and when she gets really excited so it’s gonna take some time to get used to her. She is known as a bit of a chatterbox, but it wasn’t until 2009 that she ought to start writing. Granted, she is no Shakespeare, Faulkner or Tolkein, but at least she can get her thoughts out onto paper by the use of her diary. She has traveled a bit in her lifetime and those memories coupled with a vivid imagination and bizarre life fuel her words.
Quite frankly, she silently judge people by their grammar, their taste in music and their sense of fashion. She loves making new friends but she waits for people to make the first move since she always feel like she annoy someone whenever she talks to them.
Interests 101
Books -
As a kid, books were an escape, but classics were always a favorite: The Secret Garden, Alice In Wonderland, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Catcher in the Rye. I have even heard rumors of Canterburry Tales trying to be read at age twelve…that didn’t go over very well. Another thing, it might be a little weird (sort of) but if it's possible, she would just certainly forget about the world and live in a library.
Classical music -
Yep, that's right. From Beethoven and Liszt, to Bach and Mozart. One of her greatest, TOP-SECRET (Shush!) dreams is to play and be a part of an orchestra. Being fond of this kind of music seems too natural for she plays the piano, the guitar, and she is currently learning how to play the violin. Apart from that, she also listens to any genre of music, and she have an obsession for bands. One thing's for sure, though: she undoubtedly doesn't enjoy rap and Justin Bieber.
Japan -
The culture, the food, the people, the language, the art, the fashion a.k.a EVERYTHING. Because of her love for this country, she also learned how to speak Nihongo. Her family often find her weird because she says commom Japanese phrases out of the blue like, "Itadakimasu!" (meaning "Thanks for the food!") before eating and "Urusai" (which means "Shut up or You're noisy") when someone makes fun of her. She took a liking to J-Pop, manga (Japanese comics) and anime, and wishes to become a character herself.
Kick-butt action -
Being a not-so-girly girl, she grew up to be a bit boyish. She finds amusement by watching the action films of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Matt Damon. She also loves horror, but don't have the stomach for overly gory ones. And oh, she despises really cheesy chick flicks and exaggerated comedies.
Food -
This girl eat when she's happy, when she's upset and when she's angry. Anything in-between, there's nothing in the world that can ever comfort her other than eating her favorite dishes. Examples? Tinola, sushi, pizza, nuggets, dumplings, vanilla ice cream, and dark chocolate are your best bets.
What she believes in...
She believes that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. Apart from that, she believes in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. She believes that happy girls are the prettiest girls. She believes that tomorrow is another day, and she also believe in miracles.
A grand piece of advice she has to offer?
"When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap!"
If you took the time to read this, I would like to give you a really tight virtual hug. :)
